Nathan Lewis was born in 1973 in North
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He is a member of the
Squamish Tribe of the Coast Salish Nation and he currently is
living amidst some of the most spectacular scenery in the world.
The community of Squamish is located just 66 kilometres (41 miles)
north of Vancouver, BC.
Nathan began to carve respectively at the age of 19 and
apprenticed under such internationally known artists as Jacob B.
Lewis and William Watts.
Nathan is a versatile artist who enjoys carving and working in
various mediums. He carves masks, sculptures, totem poles and has
assisted in the design and completion of a 37' foot canoe for the
Squamish Tribe.
Nathan's future aspirations include to attend Emily Carr Institute
of Art and to continue designing on a full-time basis.
